Welcome

Associates and Families

While I am a veteran teacher with over 20 years of teaching experience, I am delighted to continue my teaching career with you at the Academy for Advanced Studies. In a world with so many opportunities, education remains a vital source to help us get to our destiny. As we Begin with the End in Mind, I am excited to teach and learn with you, exploring and identifying the possibilities that will present themselves through our study of literature.

Our classroom is more than just reading and writing; our safe space together is a positive vibe where we will freely express ourselves as we dig deep in our thoughts based upon our reading of literary and informational texts. My goal is to make our lessons relevant as we meet the course standards.

I welcome You, Your Ideas, and Your Inventions - what you will create through our reading and writing and our discussions. It will be more than a good year. If Better is Possible, Good is Not Enough!

I teach because of You, My Favorite Student. I look forward to the positive lasting relationship we will build as I seek to make a difference in your life. I enjoy teaching, and I hope that you will share this same joy of learning in our class. Let's have FUN!

Together, we can make a difference. I invite families to be a part of our teaching and learning. From the first day to the last day of class, I encourage all of us to do our part to ensure the success of each associate.

I welcome each associate to speak with me about any concerns before, during, or after class. Associates and family members are also welcome to text or email me with any concerns.

Congratulations Seniors, Class of 2025! I am proud of you - you have made it to the last year of high school. You will set an example for our juniors who eagerly follow you as the Class of 2026! I am proud of you, too! Your continued and consistent exemplary work will guarantee your success in our course.

Much Love and Respect!

C. Hightower
