SkillsUSA

SkillsUSA prepares students to become skilled professionals, career-ready leaders and responsible members of their communities.

SkillsUSA is a national career and technical student organization that connects students, educators and industry professionals to help develop the skilled workforce of the future. Through hands-on experiences, leadership opportunities, career preparation and competitive events, members strengthen the skills employers value while building confidence in their abilities.

At AAS, SkillsUSA gives students opportunities to apply what they learn in the classroom to authentic career and workplace experiences. Members develop leadership, teamwork, communication, problem-solving and professionalism while expanding the technical skills associated with their chosen career pathways.

The SkillsUSA Framework focuses on three areas essential to career success:

  • Personal Skills – integrity, work ethic, responsibility, professionalism, adaptability and self-motivation

  • Workplace Skills – communication, teamwork, leadership, decision-making, planning and workplace awareness

  • Technical Skills Grounded in Academics – job-specific skills, technology, safety, service and professional development

Through leadership development, service, career exploration and SkillsUSA competitions, students have opportunities to demonstrate their knowledge and technical abilities while connecting classroom learning with the expectations of business and industry.

Whether students plan to continue their education, enter the workforce or pursue advanced training, SkillsUSA helps them develop the technical expertise and professional skills needed to succeed in college, careers and beyond.
