Associate Board Of Directors

10 high schools. One Academy. One student voice.

The Associate Board of Directors (ABOD) is the highest level of student leadership at the Academy for Advanced Studies. Similar to a traditional student government, ABOD is uniquely designed around the structure of AAS and brings together student leaders from the high schools the Academy serves.

Members represent both their home high school and the Academy, creating a student leadership team that reflects the many communities that come together at AAS.

Academy Leadership

ABOD members serve as ambassadors for AAS students, career pathways, faculty, and administration. They represent the Academy during industry visits, school and district events, community engagement opportunities, and other major activities throughout the year.

More importantly, ABOD gives students a meaningful voice in the culture and direction of the Academy. Members have opportunities to share student perspectives, strengthen connections across AAS, support school initiatives, and help shape the student experience.

ABOD members do more than attend the Academy. They represent it, connect it, and help lead it.

Membership

Associate Board of Directors membership is a selective leadership opportunity. Students are chosen based on qualities such as:

• Leadership
• Character
• Professionalism
• School involvement
• Service
• Commitment to the AAS community

Consideration may also include involvement in Career and Technical Student Organizations (CTSOs), extracurricular activities, leadership competitions, School-Based Enterprises, and other activities that demonstrate initiative and engagement.

Selected members are expected to serve as positive representatives of both AAS and their home high schools while helping strengthen the connection among students, pathways, schools, and the greater community.

ABOD meets in room 808 on scheduled CTSO/Club days.
