Frequently Asked Questions

1.       What grade must a student be in to attend AAS for the 2026-2027 school year?
A student must be in 10th, 11th, or 12th grade to attend AAS for 2026-2027.

2.       What are the requirements to attend AAS?
Students must be on track for graduation.  Enrollment is based on pathway availability.

3.       How many courses will a student take at AAS?
A student will be scheduled for 6 courses for the school year; 3 for the 1st semester (Fall 2026) and 3 for the 2nd semester (Spring 2027).

4.       Is transportation provided to AAS?
Families are responsible for morning transportation to AAS.  (There is limited morning transportation provided at 7:00 a.m. from each home high school.) Afternoon transportation is provided for all students.

5.       What time does the 1st block begin at AAS?
·       Block 1:   7:45 a.m. – 9:15 a.m.
·       Block 2:   9:20 a.m. – 10:50 a.m.
·       Block 3:   10:55 a.m. – 12:50 p.m. (Lunch is during Block 3)

Buses will depart from AAS at 1:00 p.m. to take students to their home high schools.

6.       Can you take more than one pathway at AAS?
Yes. You can choose up to 2 courses within a pathway, and 1 course from another pathway.  You can also choose 3 courses from 3 different pathways.

7.       What is the deadline to apply to AAS?
The deadline to apply to AAS is Sunday, February 1, 2026, at midnight. 

8.       How will I know if I am accepted to AAS?
Everyone who submitted an online registration form will be mailed a letter stating whether they have been accepted or not.  Letters will be mailed on Friday, March 27, 2026.  Students will have until Friday, April 24, 2026, to request a schedule change or to withdraw from AAS.

9.       What if I am taking Dual Enrollment (DE) or Work-Based Learning (WBL) courses? How will this affect my AAS schedule?
Schedule adjustments can be made to accommodate DE and WBL after the April 24, 2026, deadline. Students who are taking online classes with Southern Crescent Technical College (SCTC) must have their own transportation to leave campus during their online course time(s).

10.   Can Impact students attend AAS?
Yes.  Impact students can be accepted to AAS to take CTAE and Fine Arts courses only, and they must provide their own transportation for scheduled AAS courses.  Academic courses will be taken with Impact Academy.
